Not a Tesla App and others report a European referral increase to 2,000 km of free Supercharging. UK-facing pages in August 2026 still describe 650 miles. Both numbers are real; they're just not the same number.

Two figures are circulating for the Tesla referral benefit right now, and they don't agree. Not a Tesla App and other outlets report that Tesla has doubled the European referral reward to 2,000 km (roughly 1,300 miles) of free Supercharging, for both the buyer and the referrer. Before that change, Germany was reportedly on ~1,000 km for Model 3 / Model Y referrals as of early April 2026. Meanwhile, UK-facing pages in August 2026 still describe the benefit as 650 free Supercharging miles — about 1,046 km. We won't pick the bigger number for you. Here's both, dated, and what to do about it.

Where / whenReported figure
Germany, early April 2026~1,000 km Supercharging (Model 3 / Model Y referral)
Europe, reported increase (2026)2,000 km (~1,300 miles) Supercharging, buyer and referrer
UK, August 2026 (current site copy)650 miles (~1,046 km) Supercharging

Why this is a running-cost story, not a checkout one

It's tempting to read this as "act before you order." It isn't, and here's the distinction that matters. Whatever mileage figure ends up on your account, it is credited after delivery, not decided at checkout. The referral link mechanic itself doesn't change: open it before you configure, and the current published figure for your market is applied automatically. What this news actually affects is what that credit is worth to you as an owner, once the car has arrived — how many months of typical driving it covers, how many Supercharging sessions it offsets. That's an ownership-cost question, not an order-timing one.

Confirm the number that applies to you

Reported European figures don't automatically apply in the UK — Tesla sets referral terms market by market, and the UK has its own en_gb pages. We are not treating the 2,000 km figure as a UK number, because nothing UK-facing currently states it. If you're in the UK, the number to plan your running costs around is the one shown on Tesla's own en_gb Refer and Earn page at the moment you open your referral link — not a figure reported for a different market, and not a number quoted by a third-party UK blog. Screenshot or note the figure you see on the day you click through, so you have your own record of what was promised.

If you're ordering in the UK today, plan your running costs around 650 miles unless Tesla's own en_gb page shows something different when you check. If a UK increase does land, we'll update this figure and the "reviewed" date across the site — not silently swap it in.
