Everywhere in 2026: Model S / X are removed from the referral programme, and the Cybertruck is not sold in these European markets. The same myth applies across Europe — there is no coupon code for the car; apply the referral link before configuring and the benefit auto-applies at checkout.

April 2026: the continent doubled its reward and the UK didn't follow

This is the single most important thing for a British buyer reading European coverage, and almost nobody states it plainly. On 30 April 2026 Tesla doubled the European referral reward from roughly 1,000 km of free Supercharging to roughly 2,000 km — first spotted in Germany, then applied across the continent. UK reporting stayed on a mileage figure of 650 free Supercharging miles.

Do the conversion and the gap is obvious: 650 miles is about 1,046 km, which is close to the old continental figure and roughly half the new one. So the two are not the same reward expressed in different units — and the practical consequences run in both directions:

A UK page quoting "2,000 km" is overstating your benefit by roughly double. It has copied a continental figure across the Channel without converting or checking.
A European page quoting "1,000 km" is understating it, and hasn't been rechecked since April. That is now the most reliable single tell that a European referral page is stale.

Neither error is malicious — they're the same page being reused across markets. But it does mean you should treat any figure not accompanied by a date and a market as unusable.

Why the reward differs at all — and why that's about to matter more

The reason Europe gets charging credit while North America gets a Full Self-Driving trial isn't marketing segmentation. It's regulatory: Tesla can only hand out an FSD (Supervised) trial where FSD is approved for public use. Where it isn't, there's nothing to give away, so Tesla substitutes something it can deliver anywhere — energy.

That framing tells you what to watch. As approval spreads, the reward in a given market can change shape, not just size. The Netherlands is the live test case: it became the first EU country to approve FSD (Supervised) for public use, which removes the reason it receives Supercharging instead of a trial. Tesla hasn't confirmed a Dutch switch, and we won't predict one — but a Dutch buyer should check which of the two their own order page offers rather than assuming.

For the UK the same logic explains the gap in the table above: not available to buy or trial in the UK as of July 2026 (VCA review; expected late 2026 / early 2027) Until that changes, a British referral cannot be an FSD trial, whatever US-sourced pages claim.

Buying in one country, driving in another

Three cross-border questions come up constantly, and they have different answers — which is exactly why lumping them together causes trouble.

Can I spend free Supercharging km outside the country I bought in?	The Supercharger network is continuous across Europe, and charging credit is held against your account rather than a border. Treat the credit as spendable on the network — but confirm the terms attached to your specific grant in the Tesla app, because we can't verify every market's wording.
Which market's reward do I get if I order abroad?	The store you order on, not your passport. Order on Tesla's German store and you're in the continental scheme; order on the UK store and you're on the mileage figure. This is the one to think about before you open the link, not after.
Do local purchase incentives follow me?	No — and this is where money is genuinely lost. National EV schemes are tied to registration in that country, with their own residency and eligibility rules. A cross-border purchase can quietly forfeit an incentive worth many times the referral. Check the registration country's rules before the order, not the delivery country's.

Keep the proportions in mind on all three. In every European market we track, the national EV scheme is worth substantially more than the referral reward. The referral is free and takes seconds, so take it — but never let it drive a decision about where or when you buy.
